#35 The Aggrobeats

With experience under their suspenders, strength in their presence and soul in their music, The Aggrobeats hits listening ears hard with their funk infused reggae, assuring the scene that the guys in this band, who’ve all individually been part of triumphant local bands, that they are BOSS.

A band that seems to reflect much love for music of generations before them, The Aggrobeats pays homage to their heroes such as funk icons The Meters, godfather of soul James Brown, authentic 60s reggae acts and of course the more contemporary The Aggrolites. They wear their references proudly on their sleeves as they fuse the 2 genres of funk and reggae together to deliver performances that are of hard-hitting quality. And even though their lineup for live shows frequently change, their standard in musicianship is never compromised, evident in these videos where the band performs with sessionists due to the absence of their original drummer Bakri, bassist Amir and keyboardist Ed.

They’ve received international attention after contributing their track ‘The Aggrobeats’ to two compilations of ska bands from around the world, and a 2 track vinyl EP released by German based label, Scorcha Records, available for purchase here. For more information on The Aggrobeats, click here

ah, the interview is ok , just the answer could have been better. and i guess it’s the content of the lyrics that make you wonder what to ask unless you’re into this kind of music. great music, kindof Joe the Boss, a bit Toots, James Brown but maybe the reggae is a bit too Aggrolites.
