Moonshine & The Bee are hosting Feedback, a series of open mic nights. The series starts on the 6th of December, with special appearance by Liyana Fizi and Zalila Lee, and will go on every Tuesday at The Bee in Jaya One, PJ. Filmmakers Anonymous celebrates their 5th anniversary this weekend with an anniversary bash to remember which includes a Filmmaking Masterclass, a flea market, poetry slam, acoustic performances from the likes of Azmyl Yunor, Reza Salleh, Self-Conscious Acronym(ed) Man and more, and live elektrikk performances at night from Carburetor Dung, Ciplak, Nao, Couple, New Zealand avant-punks Mr Sterile Assembly and recently added to the line-up (and not on the flyer) are riot grrls Shh Diam.

As you can see from the flyer, the jam-packed event starts from 10am on Saturday, 30th July 2011 at MapKL@Publika, Solaris Dutamas, No. 1 Jalan Dutamas 1, Kuala Lumpur. Admission is free (although some donation is very much appreciated). Check out the event’s Facebook page for more info.

Having released his debut album, Realize, earlier this year, Reza Salleh was the first recipient of Astro Hitz Music Video Grant, a 10 month long program where they pair a local (Malaysian) independent artist with an upcoming film director to produce a music video. Directed by Nadiah Hamzah, the video has been circulating ‘traditional’ broadcasting waves and only recently uploaded onto the interwebs.

The No Black Tie annual acoustic countdown is back this year, presented to you by the good people from Moonshine, with 12 acts spread across 2 days in the usual songwriters round format. Some of the acts involved include our favourites like Meor, Azmyl Yunor, Mia Palencia, Reza Salleh, Jerome Kugan and more. The classy venue & great sound at No Black Tie should provide you with even more incentive to come and check it out.

Show starts at 9.30pm on Wednesday 29th December 2010 and Thursday 30th December 2010 at No Black Tie, 17 Jalan Mesui, Off Jalan Nagasari, Kuala Lumpur. Admission is RM20. Check out the event’s Facebook page as well.

One of Kuala Lumpur’s veteran singer songwriter, releases his first single Stracciatella, in conjunction with his debut album release, Realize. Co-produced by Melina William, whom also plays for his backing band, Realize features 14 tracks, a mix bag of new and old songs, with 2 additional bonus tracks. Reza has also been kind enough to give away the single for free, which can be downloaded on his official site, here.

The album launch, happening this 26th of November at The Apartment KLCC, kicks off at 9pm and will feature guest performances by of Mia Palencia, Zalila Lee, Najwa, Liyana Fizi, David Knight, Narmi, Asmidar and Isaac Entry.

Wow, it’s been 5 years of monthly shows already for Moonshine? Time certainly does fly. And to celebrate this milestone, the kind folks at Moonshine have put together an especially long list of performers for their 5th Anniversary show with the likes of Mia Palencia, Auburn, Awanband, Narmi and lots more, including the boss man himself Reza Salleh. So for a night of singer-songwriters, pop rock, hip hop, alternative rock and even a tribute band (if they’re still one, that is), you definitely can’t go wrong with this one.

Show starts at 9pm on Thursday, 25th November 2010 at Laundry Bar, The Curve, Kuala Lumpur. Admission is free.

Traffic jams, the news, chronic clumsiness, and the female species are about some of things that inspire local singer-songwriter Reza Salleh, who has a penchant for writing catchy, witty as well as dark and melancholic, heart-felt songs. Heavily influenced by 90’s grunge bands or the ‘Seattle Sound’, his music has a very charming mixture of folk, jazz, modern, blues and soul, topped with smooth, soulful, serenading vocals.

He is also the man responsible for Moonshine, a music show that happens twice a month which showcases some of the best local independent acts. His debut EP ‘Smoke City’ was released in 2007.
