Lost Tapes is back with another cool looking cast of acts slated to perform this coming Thursday at their usual venue at Laundry Bar. Headlining the show will be the heroically skillful instrumental merchants Nao with able support from newcomers The Great Metropolitan Expressway, who dabble in some pretty tricky post-rock themselves and another excellent and mysterious newcomer iamslacker, alongside the staple DJ set by Xes Xes Loveseat.

The ever hardworking Soundscape Records brings to you the 2nd edition of The Hidden Sessions, a bi-monthly series of events designed to showcase unsigned local bands, to provide them with another platform to showcase their talents, in a pretty swanky venue to boot.

A 2 night event, Friday night will see some complicated instrumental duelling from Nao and Man Under Zero Effort alongside some American Midwest emo (or post-hardcore) from I/Am/Rain, and Saturday night will see some glorious melody making from Free Deserters, They Will Kill Us All and Tenderfist.

Show starts at 8.30pm on Friday 8th July 2011, and Saturday 9th July 2011 9th and 10th September 2011, at The Actors Studio, Lot 10, Kuala Lumpur. Ticket prices range from RM20 to RM35. Check out the event’s Facebook page for further details.

Beijing electro stars Pet Conspiracy will be making a stop in Malaysia this coming weekend courtesy of the cool folks at Soundscape Records and Dong Tai Du Music. Named MTV Band Of The Month in 2009 and Best Electro Band in China in 2010, Pet Conspiracy’s live shows boasts of bringing the energy of Peaches and Crystal Castles, and they will also be ably supported by local math rockers Nao and newcomers Enterprise.

Show starts at 8pm on Sunday, 21st August 2011 at The Annexe Gallery, Central Market, Kuala Lumpur. Pre-sale tickets are RM35 (before 20th August) and RM45 at the door, and can be purchased from Rock Corner outlets. Check out the event’s Facebook page for more details.

Filmmakers Anonymous celebrates their 5th anniversary this weekend with an anniversary bash to remember which includes a Filmmaking Masterclass, a flea market, poetry slam, acoustic performances from the likes of Azmyl Yunor, Reza Salleh, Self-Conscious Acronym(ed) Man and more, and live elektrikk performances at night from Carburetor Dung, Ciplak, Nao, Couple, New Zealand avant-punks Mr Sterile Assembly and recently added to the line-up (and not on the flyer) are riot grrls Shh Diam.

MAP, Kuala Lumpur’s latest arts platform will be opening it’s doors this coming 27th of March 2010, with a 2-day arts festival. The festival will include from performing arts – theatre, music (yes, music is art) and dance – to installations, sculptures and even workshops.

Located in Solaris Dutamas, the center aims to be the arts central in KL with facilities such as an art gallery and multiple theater spaces.

All the way from Indonesia, Efek Rumah Kaca, well known for their social political leanings will be coming to KL at the end of Feb 2010. Brought to you by Oxygen Media, Frinjan & Envelove Distro, the band will be playing 2 shows in KL, one at One cafe and another acoustic / discussion (also know as diskustik) set at Annexe Gallery.

Opening for them at One Cafe will be Nao, Couple, Deepset, Dum Dum Tak, Free Love and Bit the Medusa.
