Moonshine’s first edition for April will feature a unique combo of bands; from dance enticing electronica pop bands Tenderfist and Otherside Orchestra, to head nodding-arm crossing post rock kings KLPHQ and newcomers Sphere.

MAP, Kuala Lumpur’s latest arts platform will be opening it’s doors this coming 27th of March 2010, with a 2-day arts festival. The festival will include from performing arts – theatre, music (yes, music is art) and dance – to installations, sculptures and even workshops.

Located in Solaris Dutamas, the center aims to be the arts central in KL with facilities such as an art gallery and multiple theater spaces.

Anyways, here’s whats happening for music for the festival.

Akta Angkasa (A\\A) will be releasing their new “document” this coming 27th. This post rock / experimental band is known for their eclectic 20 – 30 minute non stop sets, often times playing in absolute darkness. For this new “document” release show however, they will be pushing the envelope, attempting a 50 minute non stop set, accompanied with visuals by Fadly Sabran. Definitely worth the RM5.

Dance Punk Party (DPP) is back  featuring a dose of Malaysia’s dance punk / nu-rave music. Featuring the likes of Zeue, The Fridays, Enrai, Ben’s Bitches and many more.

The party will also feature DJs such as “dvsn8ght” and “kubika”.

The parties (yes, they ARE bona-fide, happenin’ parties!) seek to inform the dancepunks and raver/rockers out there of the number of Essential bands here, in their own backyard.

Pure Vibracions is embarking on a natiowide tour, starting this 13th of March 2010 at Sound Makers Studio in Penang with label mates Seven Collar T-shirt, Damn Dirty Apes and Hui Se Di Dai.

Satu Hari – An Audio Visual Timeline Expedition is a video art documentary by Efozy. The documentary is based on Malaysian urban lifestyle that merges with a traditional one, capturing activities that highlights Malaysian culture, history, art and people.

Accompanying the documentary will be live Visuals by Efozy himself, with music supplied by the likes of Monoloque, KLPHQ and Sforzando.

All the way from Indonesia, Efek Rumah Kaca, well known for their social political leanings will be coming to KL at the end of Feb 2010. Brought to you by Oxygen Media, Frinjan & Envelove Distro, the band will be playing 2 shows in KL, one at One cafe and another acoustic / discussion (also know as diskustik) set at Annexe Gallery.

Opening for them at One Cafe will be Nao, Couple, Deepset, Dum Dum Tak, Free Love and Bit the Medusa.
